Hmm, before I start, this let me add that the write I'm about to write (๐คจ hug the grammatical structure like that) is a result of a couple of blues and blacks (pens please, biro, ball-point), so here it goes
Dear young(er) me,
Hey baby girl, do you know you are beautiful? Like the pretty kind of beautiful, your beauty might not follow the standards of others, but gurlllll "you are fineeee", gorgeous as a matter of fact. That aside, please keep all your write-ups, I bet you'll need them for laughs when you are older, so abeg (I beg) keep them.
My darling Erin you are strong, and bold. Your puberty rate is ๐คท well not perfect but puhlease don't let that get to you (puberty is not a criterion to enter heaven), also girl, maybe if you pray more fervently for height something can change, but if it doesn't change (you don't end up tall), live your life.
Oh, I almost forgot, breathe and be a bit nicer, take it easy Jesus loves you, so preach his love through yours. Also eat food, as in ACTUAL FOOD and not junk.
So I saved the best (my personal best) for the last, LOVE GOD desperately, with all of your heart and stomach, it pays to serve God, so start now and grow/bask in His glory. Finally, WORK ON YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS JOR (please).
Yours Sincerely,
The Future You
Okay whew! that was more difficult than I expected.... deep down I know I could write more but the write I wanted to write did not come (does that even make sense), either way, that's a letter to a 13-year-old me, who was more bothered about her apparent lacks rather than focussing on the needful. Well thank God for growth ( physical, spiritual and even mental), I laugh at things that matter to me.
So dear You, probably still battling with body image and the likes, take a moment to breathe and say to yourself "God dey create" (here lies another phrase I can't interpret in English). After that smile, because you are beautiful inside and out.
And for the finishing touch... Psalm 139:14 (NLT): Thank you for making me wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvellous—how well I know it.

ReplyDeleteThis was a good start, keep it up.
Smh for u but still ๐๐
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you write. It's short, simple and sweet.
And you're so right about not focusing on the ephemeral things but on more important things like the never ending reckless love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts, and can be shared with others.
Looking forward to your subsequent blog posts.
Nice one Pampam. Keep it up
