Keeping It 💯 in Faith and Instagram: Embracing Doubts & Spreading Grace
In today's fast-paced world, it's no secret that we all strive for consistency in various aspects of our lives. Whether it's our daily routines, work habits, or even our social media presence, consistency is often seen as a key to success. Recently, I embarked on a journey to bring more consistency to my Instagram page, but along the way, I learned a valuable lesson about faith and life.
As I type this, my Instagram feed has just three posts, a far cry from the six I had initially planned to share. I boldly skipped a week of posting, and while I had valid reasons, deep down, I knew it wasn't enough to justify breaking my commitment. I let external factors from the events in my life dictate my posting schedule, and impostor syndrome made an unwelcome appearance. It's a feeling many of us can relate to, the nagging self-doubt that often creeps in when we're trying something new or putting ourselves out there.
However, amid my struggle with consistency on Instagram, I realized that this journey was more than just about pretty pictures and catchy captions. It was a reflection of my journey in faith. Just like in my Instagram endeavours, there have been times when I allowed external circumstances to determine my spiritual vibe. There have been moments when I've let doubts and insecurities take over.
The keyword in my aim for consistency is "aim." I've learned that it's essential to set goals and strive for consistency, but it's equally important to give ourselves grace when we stumble along the way. My faith journey is no different. I aim to be consistent in my walk with God, but I know that there will be days when life's challenges may cause me to stumble.
What's essential, both in my Instagram journey and my faith journey, is to keep going. It's about picking up the pieces, regaining our footing, and pushing forward with even greater determination. In moments of doubt and struggle, remember these verses:
Proverbs 24:16 (NIV): "For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes."
I won't stress myself over the occasional missed post or spiritual misstep because life is full of ups and downs.
In my Instagram journey, I've decided to focus on having fun and not allowing perfectionism to take the joy out of my creative expression. Similarly, in my faith journey, I choose to focus on the joy of spreading the good news about Jesus and not letting momentary setbacks discourage me.
So, as I commit to being more consistent on Instagram, I'm reminded of the importance of staying consistent in my faith as well. It's not about being perfect but about making the effort, having fun along the way, and always spreading the good news about Jesus. And I encourage you to do the same in your own life. Embrace your imperfections, keep aiming for consistency, and let your faith shine through, even in the face of doubt and challenges.
Philippians 3:14 (NIV): "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
